Bargain Hunter: Yoga Towels!

[ 11 ] August 20, 2012 |

cheap yoga towels

Nobody likes to play slip-n-slide on their yoga mat. Skedaddling in slick slippery sweat? No, thank you. The solution: a yoga towel. It’s a must for heavy sweaters, Vinyasa Flow-ers, and Bikram / Hot Yoga practitioners. When made with microfiber (ultra-fine fibers, generally polyester + polyamide), these towels wick sweat, stay soft to the skin, and hold their shape brilliantly.

Luxury yoga mat towels range from $40 – $70. If your piggy bank says no way, the Bargain Hunter has your mat covered (literally) AND your sweat wicked like a wizard. These four options are inexpensive, easy on the eyes, and rated 4 – 4.5 stars (out of 5) at Amazon:

  1. YogaRat 100% Microfiber Yoga Towel – 72″ x 24″, their dyes don’t run in the wash, many color options
  2. Gaiam Thirsty Yoga Towel – 68″ x 24″, colors = purple ($19.45 at Amazon), blue, and green ($24.98 at Gaiam)
  3. Micronet Microfiber Towel – 62″ x 35″ (x-large), comes with a mesh waterproof carrying bag, colors = sky blue ($32.15) and green ($22.99)
  4. AngelBeauty Non-Skid Yoga Towel – 72″ x 24″, two styles = with silicone grips ($16.99 – $21.99) or without ($10.99 – $15.99), comes with a mesh carrying bag, colors = blue, green, orange, pink, purple, brown

Your feets won’t fail you now — with a yoga towel.

  1. Good to know! I have students looking for lesser priced, good towels. Thanks Lo!

  2. Alex says:

100% cotton bath sheets work great for me, they are wide and long enough to lay down all the way and easily mop up liters hot yoga sweat, I’ve only seen them for sale at costco tho, like $20 or something

    • lo says:

Nice and straightforward! Do they stay put or do you get slippage?

      • Alex says:

No slippage, it does move some, but not enough to screw anything up. Perfectionist ocd types probably wouldnt like my towel as its hard to lay out perfectly

  3. My favorite is NamaSTAY Yoga Towels. They have sleeves at each end that securely wrap around your mat so you won’t slip and slide. It is quite genius!

  4. Patrick says:

    you know what’s genius?

    “NamaSTAY” someone thought of that?!
