You + your old tee + scissors = reigning queen/king of SCARFDOM. Make your very own infinity t-shirt scarf that you can rock anywhere and feel so very street chic. It’s easy as pie, costs $0, and it takes a mere 10 minutes. Let’s do this!

You’ll Need:

  • an old tee (plain, patterned, printed, graphic, dyed, thrifted, anything goes!)
  • scissors

How To:

1. Lay your tee out flat. Cut completely across, under the armpits. (I would normally cut straight across, but I wanted to preserve the entire graphic.) If there’s a bottom seam, cut straight across to remove that, as well.

2. Cut strips from the bottom end up to approximately 1″ from the top. Don’t worry if your cuts are jagged — it gives the scarf more character! I like to vary my strip width sizes (around 3/4″ to 1.5″). You can do ‘em thin, thick, or mix widths.

3. After you’ve cut strips all the way across your t-shirt, slide your fingers in to each side of the 1″ of material you left at the top. Gather this material together and you’ll see that you now have a big infinity circle. The scarf is almost done!

4. Choose a loop at either end of the scarf. Snip off ONE side of this loop.

5. Wrap the strip you snipped around and around a 2-4″ section of your infinity scarf. (If you used a t-shirt with side seams, this is a great way to hide them!) When you have a few inches of strip left, knot it. Then take the strip’s end and tuck it under the wrapped section you created.

All done! Now slip it on, arrange artfully, and enjoy!
